Congress Endorses Computer Science Education as Driver of Innovation, Economic Growth

ACM Computer and several community partners congratulate the U. S. House of Representatives passage “of a resolution on improving the visibility of computer science by making the industry that drives technological innovation and improved economic performance. House Resolution indicates the week of December 7, National Computer Science Education Week and urges educators and policymakers to improve computer science education at all levels of education and promotion of greater participation in computer science. ACM is working with Microsoft, Google, Intel, computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA ), National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT), and Computer Research Association to improve understanding of study is computer science a national priority. “National Computer Science Education week will help us address the need for a system of educational value of computer science as a discipline and gives students the essential thinking skills and career opportunities, “said ACM Education Policy seat Bobby Schnabel, dean of the School of Informatics Indiana University. CSTA Executive Director Chris Stephenson notes the important role computers play in people in everyday life and stresses the urgency of building a stable computer workforce. “We must expose K-12th students to the concept of computer science to help them gain critical skills in the 21st century, and we are grateful for the recognition of Congress on this need as a national priority “Stephenson says. NCWIT CEO Lucy Sanders and co-founder says the annual celebration of National Computer Science Education week can do more to inform students, teachers, parents, and the public about how computer science enables innovations all of Science, Technology, Engineering and mathematics areas and create economic opportunities.

Cultivating an Education: A visit to Allyn River Permaculture

As demonstrations Permaculture movement towards a sustainable future, it seems that an increasing share of ill-permaculturalists view the world, information is the new world currency. In response to growing demand and increasingly urgent need for education and information strategies and techniques that can be used to create a sustainable future is essential. And there are many who believe that they can not distributed fast enough. Research call to action, some permaculturalists access to land and resources began to see the value in the prevalence of resistant crops: the students. One of them is Permaculture designers Peter Brecknock.

Peter, an architect by profession, is hard at work developing Allyn River Permaculture, education / demonstration site Allynbrook, NSW. Fellow designers Nick Huggins and I just completed 10 weeks service at Zaytuna Farm, write down the Australian East Coast and Allynbrook planned to stop here, before heading to Wagga Wagga install Permaculture garden home and garden. After an incredibly dense and informative two months and a half in Zaytuna, Nick and I are eager to help and our newfound knowledge to work. 17.5 acres of Peter he capitalized on various characteristics of land and continues to make him rich industry with a few hundred meters from swales, dams, various food forest, forest corridors and small animal systems, including the chickens and guinea fowl (and best eggs I had for years).

The day is in place, Nick and I helped instill tree forest edge, an area of two veggie beds, and mulching to maintain some balance in the swales garden. What I’ve seen here is a site with potential for real wealth, and a teacher so the creation of a truly valuable educational site. “I’m interested in the person bringing the classroom and shows how to use these techniques to be used in a practical manner,” says Peter. “So many people do not know what to do after we PDC, or intro course. I hope to provide outdoor classroom that teaches practical water harvesting and the introduction of many of variety of small rooms. ”

As a student of Bill Mollison and Geoff Lawton teacher Peter clearly is ready to develop a culture of its own students. It Keeps Coming Back To Education

I represent athletes, but above all I consider myself an educator. They really run together, though. I make sure to give all my clients up to date, relevant information that will help them succeed in life. I do the same for athletes who still are not my clients, but who can advise you before “go pro.” Many other people out there who are doing the same. Unfortunately, there are many people who enjoy and profit from keeping athletes know about sport and ensuring the business is dependent on connections to build a “successful” practice.

Earlier this week, Darren Rovell wrote a post about CNBC, it is like waves in the blogosphere and Twitter. In a publication entitled Time for a new Jerry Maguire “, says the film is outdated. Rovell believe that many agents that parents of athletes in the center of Labor, but rather than go through the mediator often not the best interests of athletes in mind. Many times, these firms have their own agenda and will come from agents with open hands, waiting for their own payday.

then Rovell is partly inspired by the recent decision by Dwight Howard to drop his agent (Aaron Goodwin) in favor of maybe his extended family / friends manage his future contract negotiations. Time will tell if it is meaningless move by Howard or not.

I like for Jerry Maguire II Rovell to come. Because education athletes look at it. I told him (with Twitter yesterday’s) and I’ll say that again – the only answer I see is the education of athletes. No, I do not mean having players stay in college one year before the last to continue, and I’m certainly not defending, we make some major professional sports business for athletes. I think that the study should begin in college, however. While baseball and hockey players may skip college and go straight to the pros, basketball and football players will not have fun. And true, when most of the problems in these two sports.

So what can be done? It should begin with the NCAA, and then dropping to a constituent Office of every NCAA school. I do not care if he was coach of any college team by its name or even a private consulting firm, Synrgy sports, submitted to spoon feed a student-athlete who has important information that affect the rest of life. It can not happen in a normal class setting, should it happen when their attention is caught. they need to read stories like this and this, to understand them in real world tracks and AAU coaches are paid to connect them to agents. Student-athletes should feel confident that they can decide alone, or by people who truly understand their needs and requirements – not some “friends” that is more in it for myself rather than to anyone else. They should also realize that there are “bad agent” out there who will steal from them and also try to transfer money / gifts, which can be contrary to NCAA / state / federal rules and laws.

We know the problem. Let’s talk about the decision. And let them begin to implement national level.

Potential for Debate Education on the Internet

This morning was my second meeting with the debaters from the University of Tampere, Finland in the debate and I have to say I’m impressed. We are about an hour and 20 minute session, where students came up with some opening speeches and whip-based movement. I think they have some good speakers out there that is outstanding debaters with some a little more refinement and public speaking experience.

Karen, pictured above, UVM debate near the beginning of the experiment, which by now is a term used to describe the introduction of WUDC / BP dialogue in the Northeast United States. Now, study abroad, Karen has done a good job of introducing a form of BP with colleagues and peers in Tampere. Uta debate society blog chronicles their many great activities. Most importantly (in the selfish way) experience, he invited me to join my thinking in new ways to connect to Internet instruction.

What is a model of learning we have placed our entire lives? What areas are home to this model? This leads us to the requirements of reckless one board, facing the table in a certain way, a lectern, four walls and a door closed. Classes meet a group of four-dimensional coordinates. Internet communications technology has the potential to break this pattern, putting the student commitment and student adaptation to the needs of various indicators of education in total.

Legal Education!

Do you think you have what it takes to pursue a legal education and training of the noble profession of law? Maybe closer to the area of training we can offer some clues.

In a nutshell, a legal education is just practice for those who intend to become lawyers and judges or any other legal professionals. It is also pursued by those wishing to use a law degree to some end, a career in politics or academe or other purposes, no connection to law, such as business entrepreneurship ..

Legal Education includes academic and vocational training. One of the main requirements for students to acquire the scientific basis of the legal system of their jurisdiction before they can receive a law degree. For many, this is the hardest part of pursuing this legislation will lead to endless hours of research and analysis, which is the natural inclination of many students.

Before you practice as a lawyer, law students are required to prove that they have learned skills such as advocacy and analysis. For example, in many countries, the law is an undergraduate and graduate degree programs may be lawyers by passing the bar exam equivalent of the country. There are post-graduate programs to help students specialize in a particular area of law.

In contrast, the law is a graduate degree in the U.S., where students can take after completing a bachelor’s degree is another place, whether related to law or not. Most American lawyers hold bachelor’s degree in humanities and social sciences. In many cases, the law school is autonomous entity within the larger university.

At the same time in Canada and other countries, as in many other places in the world, a Law School is listed as a Faculty, which differs from the Faculty of Law in the sense that the teacher is a division University and is the same rank in another sense .. Also other countries in the last stages of vocational legal education required to practice law are carried out outside the university system.
